A lot has happened in the nearly three years since Logan Mize released his last full-length studio album Welcome to Prairieville. Mize made his Grand Ole Opry debut in April 2022 and was invited back to play the Opry again that December. He’s released multiple extended play projects including “Prairie Tapes Vol 1” recorded and produced entirely at his studio in Andale, KS and a duet project with his wife Jill Martin (also a Kansas-native singer-songwriter) dubbed ‘The Mizes’. He’s given listeners a Christmas record and multiple collaborations with artists such as Jessie James Decker, Sam Grow, Adam Hambrick and Grace Leer.

In addition, Mize has crisscrossed the country on headlining tours and shared a stage with country legends from Eric Church to Jamey Johnson to Sawyer Brown. He’s created his own brand of a crowd-sourced acoustic tour that brings an intimate and up-close show to small towns across America.

It’s been a busy three years.

Mize’s sixth full-length studio album Her Heartland was driven by several singles released in the last year. These singles anchor a record that’s an evolutionary step in blending country and heartland rock.

“The songs we've recorded and released over the past year felt cohesive like they should be on an album.  That's the way I still like to listen to music so I feel like it should be presented that way,” said Mize.

The title track ‘Her Heartland’ opens the record with a baritone guitar groove and an instant homage to the small-town Kansas life that shaped Mize’s childhood and career: “She’s the dust trails, on that one road out of town”. The record is distinctively Logan Mize, but listeners will hear some surprises all the way to the last track ‘The World Just Keeps Getting Better’ which brings back the signature baritone groove in a witty, cheeky ode to the wild world we’re living in.

“In my opinion this is the most melodically pleasing album I've ever released. It still has some punch to it but in a much more subtle way than previous projects,” said Mize.

Mize pushed himself vocally on this record more than most of his releases; he’s (half)jokingly acknowledged that some of the tracks are exceptionally difficult to sing live. All that work in the studio rewards listeners with powerful tracks that present authentic vignettes of Mize as a person and artist.

“I think this is the first record I can listen to my vocal all the way through and not hear a moment I regret. Whether it's a harsh tone, wishing I had picked a different key or comped another take.  I like the vocal all the way through on this one,” said Mize.

As far as careers for an independent artist go, Mize has outlasted and outworked the status quo. Her Heartland is a record that offers a genuinely unique sound that will appeal to brand-new listeners and decade-long fans alike.

Mize grew up in rural Sumner and Sedgwick counties in Kansas and after 13 years in Nashville moved back to Andale, Kansas where he currently resides with his wife Jill and children Lincoln and Violet. Mize’s studio and merchandise shop sits between the post office and liquor store in downtown Andale, just a few minutes from his home. When he’s not writing, recording or touring, Mize helps out on the family farm and loves coaching his kids’ sports teams. Several music videos and countless social media posts have been captured in and around Andale, giving followers an unfiltered view into the authentic life of a small-town kid turned singer-songwriter.

Mize’s 2021 single ‘Grew Apart’ was recently certified as his second RIAA Gold Record following his break-out hit, ‘Better Off Gone’. He’s logged over 350 million streams and toured across America, Canada and Europe.

Looking back on Mize’s nearly two-decade career and ahead at what’s next, it’s clear that the music has been the fundamental element that’s kept fans engaged. There’s no smoke and mirrors, no tabloid controversy, no fake social media persona; when it comes to Logan Mize, what you hear is what you get, and ‘Her Heartland’ is another record that will keep his listeners coming back.
